What Happens When the Earth Shakes Wins NSF Award

PhotoSynthesis Productions produced a series of five short clips about Earthquakes - and what scientists are doing to make us safer when they strike - in colloboration with the Ithaca Sciencenter and NEES. The videos have been the main attraction in the Sciencenter's on-site Earthquake exhibit since 2008, along with a shake-table and other fun interactive learning tools. The videos also appear on the Sciencenter's website. To date, the "WHAT HAPPENS WHEN THE EARTH SHAKES" series has won seven prestigious awards, including being named "the Most Effective Education Outreach, and Training Activity of the Year" by the National Science Foundation sponsored National Earthquake Simulation Lab System. Other awards include a Silver Davey, a Bronze Telly, a Bronze Award from Millenium Awards, Silver Award for short film or video at Horizon Interactive Awards, Award of Excellence for video for a children's audience at the 15th Communicator Awards, and a Certificate of Merit from the Chicago Film Festival.
